Electrical/Controls Engineer

Job Details:

Design electrical panels and control systems for new machines and improve existing machines using SolidWorks. Develop prototype electrical panels and program PLC’s and HMI’s for testing, verifying, and validating automation. Install and service Plitek machines in the field. Conduct service calls with Plitek service technicians and customers. Create and manage documentation related to the design and development processes in an ISO 9001 and 13485 business management system. Provide input to the sales and quoting team members for new machines, retrofits, and spare parts. Collaborate with the Plitek team, combining their ideas to develop custom designs which satisfy customers’ needs. Support converting engineering team with verification and validation of non-equipment products as required. Support production and maintenance teams by participating in installation and maintenance of production equipment.

Responsibilities:

· Integrate performance, safety, patents, goals, and regulatory requirements when designing products or systems.

· Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design effort.

· Create 3D models and detail drawings for electrical/controls designs.

· Create wiring schematics for Plitek designs/retrofits.

· PLC and HMI programming to ensure machine operates safely and meets the design inputs and outputs.

· Make changes and corrections in the electrical design throughout the life of the product.

· Conduct electrical and controls design review meetings and record the minutes.

· Record data related to the design cycle in the Company’s business management system.

· Field Installation and support of machines.

· Service calls and visits

· Travel to customer sites to train on Plitek machine installations.

· Support Plitek’s capital equipment and fixed assets.

Skills/Competencies:

· Engineering Design.

· Solidworks 3D modeling.

· 2D detail drawings.

· Able to interpret Engineering Drawings.

· PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Unitronics).

· Ability to create Electrical Schematics.

· Understands machining, CNC mills, mills, lathes, surface grinders.

· Understands CAD/CAM programming for CNC milling center (Haas).

· Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
