The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for sourcing, testing, and developing innovative materials to enhance Plitek’s existing product portfolio and support customer design and development initiatives. This role applies principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and related sciences to drive material solutions and product advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize technical background to develop and implement material solutions.
- Operate and leverage internal laboratory equipment to support development activities, including:
- Rheometer
- DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)
- FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)
- Peel and Shear Testing Equipment
- X-Ray Fluorescence
- Mark-10 Force Measurement Equipment
- Other internal instrumentation as required
- Prepare detailed technical reports on material and product testing.
- Manage assigned engineering projects to ensure timelines and objectives are met.
- Support Project Engineering teams in resolving material-related challenges.
- Provide technical material expertise across departments as needed.
- Prepare and maintain AM and CDS documentation.
- Oversee technical aspects of extrusion, coating, and liner development projects.
- Participate in meetings and conference calls with customers and vendors as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Engineering Management.
Education Requirements / Qualification
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science in Polymer Science. Other related technical fields may be considered or equivalent experience and minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Strong GPA – 3.0 minimum
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Ability to analyze data
- Ability to using problem solving techniques to resolve issues and implement change
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment
