Island Dressings

An island dressing is composed of a centrally placed material such as an antimicrobial, absorptive foam, hydrogel, or hydrocolloid generally bordered by a non-woven or film material with skin contact adhesive. Island dressings adhere to the skin surrounding the wound, but not to the wound itself protecting the wound bed from being damaged when the dressing is removed.

PLITEK offers the following services to fabricate custom island dressings

• Registered island placement of absorptive, antimicrobial, hydrogel, hydrocolloid materialonto a film or non-woven material with skin contact adhesive
• Die cut the perimeter of the dressing to a custom shape
• Custom pouching and secondary packaging of the island dressing for sterilization
