What is narrow-web converting?
Narrow-web converting is the process of changing raw materials into useable components through processes such as extrusion, laminating, slitting, printing, coating, die cutting.
How does the development process work?
Each program has unique requirements and is in its own stage of development/commercialization. We will consult with you on your design requirements to recommend optimum designs, materials and specifications. From the drawings/sketches and specifications we can create prototypes using a variety of rapid prototyping processes. Once the design is finalized, we can build production tooling and handling equipment. From there, production parts can be made.
How does Plitek differ from other converters?

We can offer objective material recommendations or work with your preferred materials. What is the difference between rotary die cutting, steel-rule die cutting, and match-metal die cutting?
Steel-rule die cutting is the process of cutting materials by passing the materials through a cutting die, constructed out of a flat base (usually wood) and a blade made of hardened steel and a flat hard surface. This cutting process is sometimes referred to as flat-bed cutting or stamping and is typically used in low volume applications and/or applications requiring larger, thicker parts. Tooling costs are low compared to other methods of die cutting, but vary depending on the complexity of the part.
Match-metal die cutting is the process of cutting materials by passing the materials through the blades of a cutting die which is constructed of a top die and a bottom die which are matched (male/female) to provide an extremely precise cut. Match-metal die cutting is used in applications which require extreme precision. For higher volume applications which require extreme precision rotary match-metal die cutting is often used. Tooling costs are typically high compared to other methods of die cutting, but vary depending on the complexity of the part.
Rotary die cutting is the process of cutting materials at high speed by passing the materials through the blades of a cylindrical cutting die and a cylindrical anvil roller which has a smooth hard surface. Rotary die cutting is typically used in high volume applications requiring speed and precision. The materials are typically fed into the process as rolls (webs) and the finished die cut parts can be supplied as pieces, sheets, or rolls. Tooling costs are average compared to other methods of die cutting, but vary depending on the complexity of the part
What types of adhesives does PLITEK work with?
PLITEK works with a variety of adhesives including, acrylic adhesive, hot-melt adhesive, silicone adhesive, medical-grade adhesive, VHB adhesive, electrically conductive adhesive, thermally conductive adhesive, and more. Adhesives come in a variety of configurations including transfer adhesives, single-coated adhesives, supported adhesives, double coated adhesives, and foamed adhesives.
